“I am honoured to have been re-selected to be your Labour candidate for Wingrove ward in the forthcoming local elections. I was first elected in 2008 and have worked hard to tackle many ongoing challenges including littering, fly tipping and traffic related issues. However, last year brought a different kind of challenge, the Covid-19 crisis.
My recent appointment to the Labour led Council’s Cabinet for Public Health and Neighbourhoods has positioned me at the forefront of our response to the pandemic notably from responding to food insecurities, ensuring access to Covid Test Centres, dealing with the disproportionate impact on our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities to ensuring a smooth vaccination roll out.
I have been central to the decision making processes that have affected this ward and city. My strong belief in compassion, equality, social and economic justice has shaped my work in tackling health inequality and building stronger communities.
It has been a pleasure to represent Wingrove ward. I again ask for your support at the ballot box so that I can continue to be a strong voice for all. May I take this opportunity to wish you all the best of health and security in these difficult times.”
