“I live in the ward, put in the work, love the area and prioritise the local community. New rules on traffic calming, and new funding for tree maintenance give us a chance to make some long-awaited improvements in our streets, back lanes and estates. This, and dealing with parking blight is a key priority for me. We are changing the council and the city to face up to the climate challenge. There is more to be done, and we will involve residents in making our city greener every step of the way. Some of Labour’s good work is not so well known. I work in the advice sector and I know that debt problems can affect anybody.
Labour cut back the use of bailiffs and improved debt collection rates by treating people fairly. Our new policies are some of the best in the country. In Ouseburn we have some excellent businesses and community projects, and some neglected areas. We have crime hot-spots and safe streets, good and bad landlords. We have excellent public spaces and poor developments that have put profit before community. There is lots to be proud of and to nurture, and lots to change.
My guiding principles are to be truthful, to promote solidarity and community spirit, and to always work for a fair and strong city.“
