The Labour Party
Nothing sums up the values of the Labour Party like this excerpt from our constitution:
The Labour Party is a democratic socialist party. It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.
We believe that every person should have the same opportunities in life – regardless of their gender, their skin colour, where they were born or who their parents are. We believe that government can be an enabling and empowering vehicle for social justice, and that we can achieve so much as a community.
The Labour Party in Newcastle Upon Tyne
The Labour Party has an active presence in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where a sizeable group of campaigners take to the streets (no matter the weather) to talk to residents about their concerns – both at a national and local level. We meet as a party regularly to talk about issues and policy, and feedback regularly to the national party. We also meet socially as often as we can – and have guest speakers like Emily Thornberry, other members of our shadow cabinet and Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party.
There has never been a better time to join our party – the movement for change and the only alternative to a Tory led government committed to leaving people on their own. Either as a member or as a registered supporter, you can help make a difference to our city and our country – making new friends and having some fun at our social events along the way!
