No to incineration of Newcastle's rubbish

Newcastle Labour are worried about plans to bring back incineration to Newcastle's rubbish.
In an effort to save money at the expense of air pollution and other safety concerns, a historic stand by all sides on the council against incineration has been broken. The Council will not rule out burning waste in the short to medium term, which will extend well into the next decade.
Nick Forbes, Labour Group Leader said:
"The Liberal Executive member has given the green light to incinerating our rubbish, and after what happened at Byker I thought the two parties had a deal on this. People in Newcastle have always had a promise from us not to incinerate their rubbish. It’s a local thing, a history thing. Let’s just hope the Liberals can be beaten again, as we have already won on ruling out incineration in the long term through our campaign."
