City Labour Councillor Stephen Lambert this week backed the Chronicle’s Pension Credit Take Up Campaign by announcing two new services in his Kenton Ward.
The first delivered by EAGA Advice Services is running advice sessions from Kenton Centre to ensure that older people and families are not missing out on benefit payments such as Tax Credits and Attendance Allowances for the over 60s. Eaga Advice is providing free, confidential help on welfare benefit entitlement every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Kenton Centre, Halewood Avenue, Kenton.
The second service run by Newcastle Citizens Advice is based at the Cowgate Neighbourhood Centre and provides guidance on budgeting, pensions and understanding tax and benefits. The face to face sessions are free, impartial and confidential.
Councillor Stephen Lambert, Vice Chair of the Council’s Kenton Committee said:
“At a time when every little helps we want to make sure that older people across the Kenton area and surrounding neighbourhoods are receiving everything they’re entitled to. Many pensioners are simply unaware of the range of benefits and services which are available.
Advice sessions delivered by EAGA and the Citizens Advice Bureau should help hundreds of old folk to claim benefits such as Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit to which they are legally entitled to”.
