Newcastle Labour News and information from Newcastle Labour Team

I’m proud to have been re-selected for the Ouseburn ward in the local elections in May 2022. I’m standing as a Labour and Co-operative party candidate.
It’s been a pleasure serving the ward for the last 6 years.
I took early retirement so I could focus on residents and the ward. As someone who lives locally (I live in the terraces in the ward) I’m aware of a lot of the issues that people face and raise with me – litter, fly-tipping, poor housing, bad landlords, debt and inequalities, speeding traffic and car parking.
I’m always out and about listening and talking to people and local businesses and I’m also a governor at Hotspur Primary school.
As the Cabinet lead for Children, Education and Skills, I have worked to protect the most vulnerable and ensure our children and young people are provided with a good education and the skills needed to access opportunities across the city.
During my time on Planning committee, I fought hard to have Plot 12 voted against. The Malmo development is now another issue and one that I am equally opposed too.
I’m driven by a strong belief in equality and fairness and will always fight for residents so they feel safe, listened to and represented.
